Classroom Halloween crafts

from:

If you are a teacher, like I am, you are always on the lookout for easy and fun classroom Halloween crafts for your students to make. There is no better way to keep students occupied than to let them create something, and Halloween is an especially fun time to make scary decorations to make your classroom look festive. There are all types of fun and easy classroom Halloween crafts for you to try. Here are a few that I have used that work great for most ages!

You can make a fun ghost as one of your classroom Halloween crafts by using some white construction paper and your students’ feet! Have the child take off their shoe and stand on a piece of white construction paper. Trace around the outside of the foot, but not the toes! If your kids are able to, have them work together tracing each other’s feet! Then have them cut out their footprint. The heel of the foot will be the ghost’s head. Have them use a black marker or little bits of black construction paper to make a ghost face and use the scraps of white paper left from tracing the foot to make arms and have the children glue the arms to the ghost. Punch a hole in the top of his head and put a piece of string through the hole so you can hang your ghosts from the ceiling and create a spooky room!

Maybe you want to have some bats to float among your ghosts. Here is another one of my classroom Halloween crafts that worked really well. You will need a clean egg carton to begin with. Take a pair of scissors and have your students cut three of the egg cups out of the carton leaving all three attached. With the outside two cups, cut out the front and back of the cups to form wings. Then use black paint to paint the bat. Once the paint is dry, you can either have them use white paint to draw on eyes or have them glue on googly eyes. Punch a hole in the top of the middle cup and tie a knot in the end of a string that won’t pull through the hole. Hang your bats among your ghosts and you have another great classroom Halloween crafts project!

These are only a couple of the many classroom Halloween crafts that I have tried which have thrilled my students and made them feel a lot of accomplishment. Many reported that when they took them home, their parents were thrilled as well. You may have to ask for the students to bring supplies from home, but when you are planning classroom Halloween crafts projects, that is to be expected. Then let your kids take charge and be as creative as they want to be!
