Egg carton bats

from:

One of the easiest Halloween crafts that you can make is egg carton bats. The best part about making this type of craft is that they are easy enough for any age and you can really be creative if you so desire. Theres nothing better than having a house full of bats to decorate your home for Halloween. Egg cartons are readily available, and egg carton bats are easy to make and cute at the same time. Here are two ways to make these cute crafts.

First, take a clean, empty egg carton and cut out three of the cups keeping them attached together. Cut out the front of the outer two cups. These are your bats wings. If you want to, you can also cut out the back part of the outer two cups as well. Paint your bat black. You can either use white paint for eyes or glue on googly eyes that you can find in any craft store. The face will go on the center cup. If you want your bat to look especially sinister, you can also paint on fangs. Poke a hole in the top of the cup. Take a string and make a knot in the end of it that will not come through the hole and string through the hole. Make a lot of these and hang them everywhere for a spooky home!

If you want to use a rubber band to string on your egg carton bats, it can make them especially fun because they can bounce around. If you use a Styrofoam egg carton and waterproof paint, you can make a lot of these bats and hang them from trees around your home to make your yard look especially decorative. If you do this, you may want to look into glow-in-the dark googly eyes or use glow in the dark paint that will be really scary at night which is when Halloween is at its scariest!

The great part about making egg carton bats is that they can be made by children of all ages. Adults will find themselves having just as much fun as children crafting their bats. Even older children can find enjoyment in this fun craft. As with any other crafting project, making egg carton bats teaches children a lot of valuable tools that they can take with them to school and in other places. It encourages creativity and instills pride as they watch a simple egg carton take shape into egg carton bats that they can be proud of!

Why they ‘Cosplay’

Some of us might see “cosplay” as something like wearing costumes for Halloween. But that isn’t the case. My friend and I recently went to the first ever Comic Convention of DLSU, in partnership with The Student Media Office and Malate Literary Folio. The participants described “cosplaying” very differently.
