Halloween poem scrapbook

from:

It might sound strange to have a Halloween poem scrapbook, but actually, it is such a fun idea. When I found out about the impending birth of my first grandson, I started scrapbooking for him and many of those pages contained poems that I had written for him. There are so many poems that have been written with Halloween as their inspiration that making a Halloween poem scrapbook can help tie together your commemoration of the holiday.

For example, let’s say your daughter is going to dress up as a witch for Halloween. Your Halloween poem scrapbook page will, of course, contain pictures of her in her cute costume, right? Why not take the following poem and type it into your word processor:

The witches don their pointed hats,
The witches croak and croon,
The witches ride their broomsticks,
Away beyond the moon.

The witches don their flowing cloaks,
The witches stir their brew.
The witches chant their magic spells,
All the dark hours through.

The witches stroke their big black cats,
They comb their locks of gray,
Yet when the first faint daylight comes.
The witches hide away.

Make it a unique or scary font and print it out. Then paste it in the middle of some black scrapbooking paper, and place pictures of your daughter in costume around it and perhaps some cut outs of various witches – some on brooms, some stirring a cauldron, some just posing, and then do a little journaling to fully remember the night. And do not forget to put the date on the page!

You can find all sorts of poems for your Halloween poem scrapbook pages. Be creative and perhaps make a whole book of Halloween memories all centering around various poems. There are lots and lots of existing poems, but you can also try your hand at writing your own Halloween poems. Think about what types of memories the season evokes and images that you see in your head when you think of Halloween and then put those images and memories into words. Remember, a poem doesn’t have to rhyme, but it should flow easily and sound pretty to the ear.

Making a Halloween poem scrapbook can be really fun if you let it be. Of course, the key to scrapbooking is to use your imagination and be creative with what you have. When you make a Halloween poem scrapbook page, just go nuts and let your mind be your guide. Add and take away components until your Halloween poem scrapbook page looks just as you envisioned it would look. Then be proud of your hard work!

Halloween: Power of fear . . . or fear of power

My house is abuzz with the sounds of excited children at the prospect of 'all-you-can-eat-candy' day next week. And, there is fear, for mum and dad. That is, fear of sugared-up children bouncing off the walls, fear of hidden stores of candy that dad cannot find and fear of future dentist's bills.

Fear the Frankenfish: Beneath the Gills of the Genetically Engineered Salmon

Government documents  uncovered this December  revealed a fishy situation: In 2009, Canadian authorities discovered a new strain of a deadly fish flu, Infectious Salmon Anaemia, at a Prince Edward Island aquaculture research facility. ISA outbreaks always mean trouble—the disease decimates fish populations across the globe—but this case is leaving an especially sour taste in foodies’ mouths ...
