Take a pair of scissors and cut the shorter lines from the folded edge of the paper and stopping at the line.
Once you have the strips cut, unfold the paper and bend the paper into a cylinder. Paste the sides together. Make a handle for the lantern, cut a 1 ½ inch by 12 inch strip from green construction paper. Staple the paper in an arc from the top of the lantern. Make eyes, nose, and mouth using bits of red, yellow, and black construction paper and your child’s imagination. Display with pride!
